Our links page is set out as an index of preserved electric traction rather than a list of sites in general.
We have tried to find the most relevant link for each locomotive or unit; as an example, Class 74, 74006, is based on the Much Grumbling Railway, and the railway has a website. This site may be the best source of information, and the index entry would appear like this:
| 74 HB |
| 74006 |
http://www.much-grumbling-railway.org.uk/ |
However, if there is a more specific website run, say, by the loco's owners or a dedicated restoration team. This entry will be listed in preference as follows:
| 74 HB |
| 74006 |
Class 74 Preservation Fund |
Hopefully this will take you to the most appropriate source of information on each loco, but some websites are better than others. We don't guarantee that you'll find a full service history, but you might find the number listed under 'Other Non-Steam Vehicles' on a stock list page somewhere.

Comments about us on other sites
It is the nature of railway enthusiasm that some people will not like what groups like ourselves are doing,
or how we are doing it. In the pre-internet age, if people wished to make their opinions widely known in the railway community,
they would invariably write a letter to a magazine - this would give the group or individual being criticised the opportunity to respond in the
following issue. Since the dawn of the internet people can choose to publish their opinions or criticisms of our actions or activities
on websites, where we don't have any opportunity to refute or explain, or indeed correct misconceptions in the same venue.
For example, one site linked to above has an odd comment (alongside its link to us) that we wouldn't let the site's owner become a member.
The owner isn't named on the site so we don't know who he or she is, or when and where they applied to join, and therefore have no way of responding.
Without wishing to infer any connection to the site in question, in our defence all we can say is that we've only ever refused one person membership of the group - and that was back in 2000/2001. The individual concerned had written to us
describing how they had been trespassing and souvenir-hunting at Crewe Electric Depot; not something we condone or want to encourage amongst our membership.
Fortunately we've not had many other such instances (although there was one in particular that took some beating for out-and-out ranting and inaccuracy!), but if you do
read something about the Group and want to know our side of the story please feel free to contact us.
