The re-run of the LSL/InterCity "Avocet Achievement" railtour, from Crewe to Glasgow Central and back, took place on 7 October 2026 and was completely successful. 89001 hauled the train northwards; and pushed it on the return using Mk.3 DVT 82139 and the Time Division Multiplex system. Northwards from Carstairs was breaking new ground for 89001, its only previous visit to Carstairs (and to Scotland) being on 8 October 1987 on a loaded test run. This was also the first time 89001 had worked a passenger train with a Mk.3 DVT, as previous runs on the East Coast Main Line were with a Mk.4 DVT.
