On 30th November Hull Trains took 86101 and the Mk3s out for a test run with a view to starting services using the rake. With 87022 added to the rake for the run the train only got as far as Peterborough before problems with the coaching stock forced a recall to Bounds Green. Once again, 86101 performed faultlessly.
